Pixelate person in a photo

Your photos never leave your device.

Press “Find person” and every person in the picture is covered, edges included. Useful for property, travel and street photos where the place matters and the passers-by don't.

For photos where people are in the way

A flat listing with the agent in the mirror, a monument with a crowd in front of it, a street scene with recognisable passers-by: the place is the subject and the people are a privacy problem. The person finder (PP-HumanSeg) marks every pixel that looks like part of a person, and the mask is grown slightly so outlines and hair are covered too.

Unlike face pixelation, the whole body is hidden — clothes, tattoos and bags identify people as readily as faces do.

Check the edges, then add what it missed

People who are very small, partly hidden or in unusual poses may be missed or only partly masked. Paint over anything left with the brush, or switch to the ellipse tool for a face. Safety mode keeps the block size coarse enough for the size of each masked area.

Questions

How is this different from pixelating faces?

Face pixelation covers only faces. This covers each whole person — body, clothes and belongings — using a person segmentation model instead of a face detector.

Does it work on group photos and crowds?

Yes, everyone the model recognises as a person is masked together. Very small or heavily overlapped people can be missed; add brush strokes for those.

Can I keep one person and hide the others?

The mask covers everyone. Switch to “Background” to keep people and hide the place instead, or use the face tool and switch individual faces on and off.

Is the photo uploaded to detect people?

No. The 5.9 MB model is downloaded once from our model file server and runs in your browser; the photo stays on your device.
