About PixelatePhotos

A small, focused tool for two jobs: hiding things in photos properly, and turning photos into pixel art.

Most people who search for a pixelator want to hide something — a child's face, a number plate, an account number in a screenshot. Most pixelators were built as visual effects. The difference matters: an effect only has to look hidden, while a redaction has to stay hidden after the picture is shared, recompressed and looked at closely. PixelatePhotos treats hiding as the main job, with a safety mode on by default and honest guidance about when pixelation is the wrong tool.

The second job uses the same engine the other way round. Instead of hiding detail, it keeps just enough of it: a photo becomes a small sprite with a chosen palette and dithering, ready for a game, a sticker or an avatar.

Principles

  • Pictures stay on the device. The site is static files; there is no upload endpoint.
  • AI is optional and named. You see each model's name and size before it downloads.
  • Claims match the code. If the site says it removes metadata, the exporter writes none; if it says a picture can't be unpixelated, it doesn't sell you a tool that pretends to.
  • Free to use, no account, no watermark.
